I have 2 Shi-Tzus who barkm but it is not a regular bark, and I know they are sleep, because sometimes I have to shake my littlke girl to wake her up to walk outside, she is 16, and her name is Katie, and I have a 9 year old boy and neither will wake up when the other os making a noise. Sometimes they "sing" in a very low tone. When trhey are awake I ask them to sing and they will howl, and they get a treat. I can ask him to go see who is outside and they run straight to the window and look out and then if they do not see anyone they will look at me and I will just say thank you, but if someone is out there and they do not know them, they will start barking. MY 16 year old started barking about 2:30 am, and I saw someone trying to steal my new Explorer, and I did not turn on the lights I snuck around with my .45 and held him until the police arrived, and this guy had been breaking into cars or stealing them for a long time and the police had been looking for him for a while. They are very protective, especially of their Grandma,(my mother) who I have been caring for since she was diagnosed with cancer 5 or 6 years ago, and she has a colostomy, and when I have to change it my boy will be right there, and both have charged at me when I was taking my mom;s blood pressure. I can pretend to spank her and both of them will get between me and her, and she is the only person that they protect. They are sweet natured, but they can get really upset if they think anyone is near their grandma. I have never married, I was a military man, and I just never married, and these 2 Shi-Tzu;s are my only kids, and I have a nephew who I took care from before his second Birthday until he started regular school. My Bart loves that boy, he was still a infant when I brought Bart Home. I think he rode with us to go get him, and they love each other. I would be lost without my 2 little friends.

This is so amusing! i think so too, that dogs do dream. i grew in a household that dogs are like furnitures - they're everywhere. anyhoo, i have seen them doing funny antics whenever they're asleep. like right now, i have an aspin and a pug. my pug would usually fashion his mouth like he was eating (he loves eating) and my aspin, would run in her sleep. while lying on her side, she would maneuver her legs in running stance, for more, she does this as if she's really running off somewhere! Ang bilis bilis tlga! then it would gradually slow down as if she's done for the time. it's so funny to look at!

i think like humans they dream of the things they love doing too! i am just curious with their sleeping patterns though, they seem to be readily alert after a good sleep. uughh.. except for my pug though! he is always asleep. :D
