One of Pinoy Dog-Lover’s supporters, Bow & Wow, is having the Paw It Forward campaign this season. Through a series of programs, you and your pet will be able to help another animal in need. First up is the Petparazzi Video Upload Contest. Simply purchase food products from Bow & Wow to join and you’ll help sponsor the spaying/neutering of the beloved rescue animals of CARA Welfare Philippines.

Upload your baby’s cutest moments according to the theme of the week and get a chance to win the grand prize of P10,000 worth of gift certificates! One cat and one dog video will each win the grand prize.

Winning is quite simple. The videos with the most like and votes shall be declared the winners.

Encourage your friends and family to vote for your beloved pooch or feline. Votes are earned through food and treats purchased from Bow & Wow from November 21, 2011 until January 23, 2012. This video contest is for a very important cause close to our hearts. Bow & Wow is partnering with CARA Welfare Philippines for the Spay and Neuter campaign. For every 15 videos uploaded, 1 cat/dog shall be spayed and neutered. And at the end of the promo, the total number of animals spayed/neutered shall be matched by Bow & Wow. This promo is part of Bow & Wow’s campaign, Paw It Forward.

I hope you guys join! I’ve personally met the folks behind CARA, and I can’t help but admire their dedication. Ms. Nancy Cu Unjieng and her team selflessly give their time and effort to help animals in need — albeit limited resources. The help you give will definitely come a long way.

Kubrick came as a Steamed Shrimp (with a matching giant salad fork), while Shantee (being the brat she sometimes is) went with a “non-weird” Rainbow Brite costume. Kubrick’s patience wearing the shrimp gear paid off though. He won the Crypt Keeper’s Choice (Most Original Costume)! Yay, Kubrick!

Shantee loves attention, so you can expect she’d throw a tantrum seeing Kubrick get noticed by everyone — and she did! She didn’t like Kubrick getting called on stage before her to show the judges his costume (tantrum 1), and she most definitely did not like Kubrick going up on stage again to receive his award (tantrum 2). She was in a horrible mood until the next day, she really didn’t like Kubrick getting more attention than she did

It was a fun event, and we’ll definitely be back next year! Hopefully, we’ll have time to come up with a better costume for these two

My husband Marc will be running with Kubrick… He didn’t really plan on going initially, so he’d be able to take videos and pictures of me and Shantee while we run. But Kubrick would be so sad and hurt if we left him at home with my sister… So there, he’s going too!

The 1km human and dog tandem race we’ll be joining is quite interesting. It’s not just a run, it’s a run with some obstacles! Kind of like the yearly Men’s Health Urbanathlon, except here, the “urbanathletes” are dogs, not humans

The race kit comes with matching singlet and bandana for both human and doggy participant! The matching race bibs, both have food stubs too. At first I thought they just left a food stub on the dog’s race bib so it’ll be easier to print, but I was wrong. Doggies WILL get free food too, courtesy of Bow Wow. Now, how cool is that?!!

The event is already this coming Sunday, 3 April 2011, but YOU CAN STILL REGISTER! There will be a registration booth on race day, but it’s best to register as early as now so you’ll be sure to have the proper-size singlet (singlet size availability on race day will be on a first come, first served basis). • All participating dogs must be properly vaccinated and rabies-free.
• All dogs must be kept on a leash during the entire event
• Female dogs in heat should not participate in the event
• Please be sure to bring the necessary accessories to pick up after your dog’s waste.
• Dogs will have a separate festival area to cater to their needs and interests
• Good Housekeeping will not be liable for any accidents incurred by your dogs during the event

I would like to invite you to pledge to donate a minimum of One Peso (Php1.00) for every kilometer I complete during the race. If I finish all 42.2 kilometers, the adorable cats and dogs of CARA will receive Php42.20 from you. This minimal amount would be enough to buy a small pouch of dog or cat food. For the first time, a race event tailor-made to accommodate dogs! The race kits include not only singlets for human racers, but “race bandanas” and poop scooper for their canine partners as well But that’s not all… The race event categories and race maps were also made for dogs in mind — 1.5km, 3km and 5km. The 1.5km event is a realistic distance for short-legged fur-babies like mine — Shantee can do 2km walkies, did you know? Winners will receive prizes. Though Shantee and I don’t have illusions of winning the race, we’re still banking on finishing it!

Can’t run? Well, you and your dog can still join in the fun! At around 6:15am, fun games will begin for non-runners. A lot of activities are planned from 4:00am to 10:00am on race day, dog-lovers like you just shouldn’t miss it!

PAWS is holding a charity dinner on May 30, 2009 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. Tickets are Php2,000 for each human bringing a furry date, while Php1,500 for those who will come stag. Proceeds will all go to the PAWS Animal Shelter. One dog per one human only!

Here’s the fun part: there will be performances by celebrities who support PAWS, a buffet for humans, and a buffet for dogs! See? Even your furry dinner dates get to enjoy the charity dinner

What to expect: a buffet for dogs, a buffet for humans and performances by celebrities who support PAWS. All proceeds of ticket sales will go to the PAWS Animal Shelter.

I’m so happy to hear that Iams Home 4 the Holidays exceeded their 1 million adoption mark. As of writing, 1,088,506 pets have been adopted I am strongly opposed to euthanasia, and I can’t help but be happy that more than a million pets are saved from this and found themselves a place to call home.

Congratulations to all those who have been part of this campaign. Hope you guys have another great adoption year in 2008!

Registration fee is Php500. All proceeds shall be donated to the PAWS Animal Shelter in Quezon City. Humans get to pose for photos with their pets while at the same time helping the shelter animals. Pick-up points for the photos will be announced soon (sorry, I don’t have the info for pick-up points yet).

I have traveled even to far-flung provinces here in the Philippines, and I have seen how dogs enriched the lives of even the most underprivileged in the places I visit.

As I have said before, this blog aims to bring relevant dog-related issues and news to Filipinos not just in the Philippines, but all around the world as well. In this light, I urge my US-based readers to also take a look into this holiday project Banfield, The Pet Hospital, is having.

Banfield, The Pet Hospital is a private veterinary practice with hospitals located across the United States. For this holiday season, the hospital has teamed up with Meals on Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) for a national Pet food drive called Season of Suppers.

Banfield hospitals all over US are collecting pet food and then donating them to their local MOWAA counterpart in order for the pets of senior citizens in MOWAA program to have a little something for this holiday season. You can help by donating pet food through your local Banfield hospital until December 31. Look for the Banfield near you.
