Dine with PAWS

Here’s a chance for you to have fine dining with your furry best friend!

Dine with PAWS!

PAWS is holding a charity dinner on May 30, 2009 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. Tickets are Php2,000 for each human bringing a furry date, while Php1,500 for those who will come stag. Proceeds will all go to the PAWS Animal Shelter. One dog per one human only!

Here’s the fun part: there will be performances by celebrities who support PAWS, a buffet for humans, and a buffet for dogs! See? Even your furry dinner dates get to enjoy the charity dinner :)

What: Dine with PAWS
When: May 30 (saturday), 6.30pm
Where: SM Mall of Asia Music Hall
What to expect: a buffet for dogs, a buffet for humans and performances by celebrities who support PAWS. All proceeds of ticket sales will go to the PAWS Animal Shelter.

Please note that tickets won’t be sold at the door on the day of the event. You will need to reserve tickets! For reservation, just text 0917-8352405 or send an email to philpaws (at) yahoo (dot) com with your contact info so a PAWS representative can get in touch with you. Tickets may be picked up at the PAWS Rehabilitation Center in Katipunan or at a designated pick-up point (you need to coordinate with PAWS regarding this first though).

Pose for PAWS!

The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) will be having a fund-raiser, Pose for PAWS, this coming Sunday, 14 December 2008, at B3, Bonifacio High Street in Taguig.

Pose for PAWS

Registration fee is Php500. All proceeds shall be donated to the PAWS Animal Shelter in Quezon City. Humans get to pose for photos with their pets while at the same time helping the shelter animals. Pick-up points for the photos will be announced soon (sorry, I don’t have the info for pick-up points yet).

Shantee and I might go… She just loves having her photo taken :)

Our own little dog sanctuary

Before the family transferred to our new home in Antipolo, I’ve lived along Katipunan Avenue all my life (the C5 Katipunan Extension, to be more precise). Our street (or more appropriately, highway) was always busy with cars going to and from Ateneo, Miriam, or UP, or simply passing by since it’s rather a major highway. You rarely get to see birds there (with all the pollution, it’s not surprising), though a number of cats loiter by the trash bins and a “gang” of dogs congregate after midnight on a vacant lot right across our house. From what I know, almost every single one of our previous neighbors owned a dog, but I do know for sure that we were the only ones who owned thirteen of them :D

I guess that’s why it wasn’t so surprising that strays considered our house a sanctuary. We’ve adopted stray cats, stray dogs, and heck, we even fed the Maya birds who liked hanging out on our Atis tree (unlike our neighbors and passersby, we got to see birds everyday). I don’t know, I guess our family just loves animals, and we just couldn’t resist taking them in. :) (more…)
